Just a few days after being admitted to the hospital for cancer treatment, King Charles had a fresh headache, and Prince Andrew is causing the king further problems.
As fresh information surfaced in an ongoing inquiry into Andrew’s espionage controversy, Buckingham Palace hurried to issue a significant statement on Friday.
The palace clarified the secret meetings between Hampshire, Andrew, and the King himself following the written testimony of Dominic Hampshire, the former senior aide of the disgraced Duke of York.
According to the Palace, “the person known as H6 was not mentioned at any time or in any way as part of these discussions, even though His Majesty met with the Duke and his adviser to hear outline proposals for independent funding over the past year.”
In May 2024, Dominic published a 10-page statement that was part of a set of documents made public by the courts when the British press requested information on Andrew’s connection to Yang Tengbo, the putative spy who was previously only known by his codename, H6.
Yang was the co-founder of Pitch@Palace China, which extended the duke’s Pitch@Palace project into China, and it is said that Yang developed close relationships with Andrew. Yang, though, denies any misconduct.
Yang gave Andrew draft letters to China’s president Xi Jinping on the Eurasia Fund, according to Dominque’s account.
The duke’s Pitch@Palace program was to be “upgraded” “into an investment-type business, or a fund,” according to his proposal. According to British news agency PA, he was also sent to speak with “relevant people” in China.
βThe royal household, including the late queen, were fully aware of this communication β it was certainly accepted and it may be fair to say it was even encouraged β it was an open channel of communication that was useful to have,β Dominque said in the statement.
