Following the Supreme Court’s decision last week over the definition of a woman, J.K. Rowling has called on Sir Keir Starmer and other ministers to provide an apology.

The Equality Act 2010 defines “woman” and “sex” as “a biological woman and biological sex,” the court ruled unanimously last week.

Some lawmakers expressed their displeasure with the decision, while tens of thousands of people demonstrated against what they saw as a “betrayal” of the trans community in central London on Saturday.

Several gender critical activists applauded the decision, including Rowling, who has been vocally opposed to transgender women utilizing single-sex places. Rowling has since called on the government and prime minister to retract their earlier support for trans women.

“Women have fought (and are still fighting) the single biggest land grab on their rights in my lifetime,” she stated via social media.

“Some have sacrificed their livelihoods and safety to combat a pernicious ideology that has infiltrated elite institutions, including government.”
