Jessica Simpson marks 8 years sober amid divorce.

The pop star, 45, recently made her grand comeback to music after a 15-year hiatus

Jessica Simpson is celebrating eight years of sobriety as she navigates the end of her 11-year marriage with Eric Johnson.

On Saturday, November 1, the singer and fashion mogul, 45, took to Instagram to reflect on her sobriety journey. She posted a glowing selfie alongside a powerful message about the transformation that came with giving up alcohol.

“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,” she wrote. “Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”

Simpson said she now lives guided by faith, writing, “Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith… I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”

Her sobriety, she’s shared, has also reshaped her creativity. “Every time I would write, I was a little afraid of myself… especially because I was drinking at the time,” Simpson told The Cut back in February — less than a month after filing for divorce. “But once I gave up the alcohol, the fears just diminished. They went away.”

Did Jessica Simpson get divorced?

Earlier this year, Simpson filed for divorce from Eric Johnson after 11 years of marriage. The pair got married in July 2014 and welcomed three children together — daughters Maxwell (12), Birdie (5), and son Ace (11).

Announcing their split in a January 13 statement to US Weekly, Simpson revealed, “Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”

Since her divorce, Simpson returned to music for the first time in 15 years, performing live for the first time in 15 years at the SXSW’s Recording Academy Austin Chapter Block Party.

“It was emotional coming back home to the best part of myself,” she wrote in an Instagram post the next day.

She also debuted two new songs, Breadcrumbs and Leave, and two new EPS.
