Jay Z escapes courtroom clash.

After Rymir Satterthwaite, the guy claiming to be Jay Z’s son, withdrew his federal lawsuit against the rapper, the long-running paternity dispute took an unexpected turn.

According to court documents that Us Weekly was able to obtain, Satterthwaite submitted a notice of withdrawal on July 18.

He explained his decision in a social media video shortly after. “These past several weeks have been really hectic. He stated that he wants to “step back and play chess, not checkers,” but he hasn’t stopped fighting.

The 32-year-old Satterthwaite has long maintained that his late mother Wanda was romantically involved with Jay Z in the 1990s.

There had already been a lot of opposition to the lawsuit. Jay Z obtained a restraining order against Satterthwaite in 2022 following what the court deemed to be “frivolous” allegations.

On July 18, the rapper’s attorneys once more filed a motion to have the lawsuit dismissed, referring to the most recent filing as “just the latest” in what they called decades of harassment.

According to court documents, prior accusations had been “rejected in multiple other courts,” and persistent attempts to bring them up had even resulted in a contempt order.

Satterthwaite was accused of harassment by Jay Z, who has three children with his wife Beyoncé, but he maintained that the charges were “fabricated.”
