During the filming of Wicked: For Good, Ariana Grande was open about playing a brand-new Glinda song.
Speaking on Variety’s Award Circuit Podcast, Grande talked about her experience making the next sequel.
“I’ve never experienced anything like Shooting For Good,” Grande said. It was a very drawn-out and emotional procedure. I sort of stepped out of my body. We spent a week filming it, and I never forgot it. Since I’m not sure whether I’m ready to experience everything again, I haven’t even viewed the final edit yet.
In addition to delving more into Glinda and Elphaba’s histories, the sequel has a brand-new song for Glinda that was penned by composer Stephen Schwartz.
She said, “This metamorphosis occurs offstage in the stage show, but we get to see her make the decision that defines who she is in the movie.”
“It’s a privilege to sing this song and be the first Glinda to bring it to life,” she added, thanking the chance.
In addition to this song, Glinda and Elphaba will perform a duet in the film.
As a prelude to the beloved Wizard of Oz, Wicked delves into the beginnings of Glinda, the Good Witch (portrayed by Grande) and Elphaba, the Wicked witch of West (portrayed by Cynthia Erivo).
November 21, 2025, is the planned publication date for the follow-up, Wicked: For Good.
