IDF chief says conditions ‘created’ for Gaza ceasefire.

A top Israeli army official and Donald Trump have hinted that a ceasefire in Gaza may be imminent.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief of staff Eyal Zamir informed Israeli media that “conditions were created to advance a deal” to cease the fighting in the coastal region and free the captives.

He stated in a televised speech: “We have accomplished a number of noteworthy outcomes, and we have seriously harmed Hamas’s military and administrative capacities.

“Thanks to the operational power that we have demonstrated, the conditions have been created to advance a deal to release the hostages.”

‘This week, or next’

It coincides with the US president’s extended visit to Washington, DC, this week, where he is hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Mr. Trump, “the majority” of his talks with Mr. Netanyahu were centered on Gaza.

He stated: “I think we have a chance [of a ceasefire] this week, or next week.”

“Not definitely,” the US leader replied, adding that there was no certainty over the situation in Gaza.
