Recently, a former extra star from the Harry Potter movies revealed how much she was paid for her brief appearance, providing insight into the realities of working on the venerable series.
The actress who portrayed Eloise Midgen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Samantha Clinch, disclosed that her daily salary as an extra was a meager £35. That amounted to a mere £2.91 per hour throughout the lengthy 12-hour filming days.
Clinch, however, also had an uncredited appearance in The Prisoner of Azkaban, demonstrating how insignificant extras are, even on a project as large as Harry Potter.
“We would be called for breakfast to be in the holding area outside the set for 5am in the morning and then be leaving at rush hour, on the bus in heavy, heavy traffic,” she said while sharing her tale on her TikTok account, @samanthaclinch.
Her salary increased to £70 per day once she was cast in a titled part in the fourth movie. “To be honest, I had no idea how the day would turn out for me and my bank account on that particular day.”
“It was genuinely the most incredible time of my life,” she said, praising the series despite the low salary.
“Really, the quantity of Squares bars and iced buns we consumed was at least £15 per day,” she continued.
