A paramedic in Gaza who had been jailed for more than five weeks following an Israeli strike that killed 15 relief workers has been freed, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
Israeli troops assaulted Asaad al Nsasrah and 17 other humanitarian workers in Tel al Sultan, southern Gaza, on March 23.
Asaad was one of two first responders who survived; the remaining 15 were slain.
He was first believed to be missing since his corpse was not among the deceased. It wasn’t until April 13, three weeks after the attack, that Israel acknowledged Asaad was alive and in Israeli custody.
The PRCS announced Asaad’s release on X and posted a video of him reconciling with coworkers.
