Visitors are currently subject to transit and admission restrictions as a result of COVID-19 until further notice. Before travelling to Brunei, you must obtain an Entry Travel Pass. To apply for an Entry Travel Pass, you must be sponsored. The Brunei Government, a registered company, or a family member who is a Brunei citizen or Resident must sponsor the applicant.
Entry Travel Pass applications must be filed at least eight working days before the desired date of travel. It must be submitted on your behalf by the sponsoring agency or a family member in Brunei Darussalam.
You must have a negative COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test result within 48 hours before departure. The test result must meet the following criteria:
It clearly says that the test performed was a ‘RT-PCR’ test performed at a designated medical centre recognised by the government of the country of departure.
Payment for a post-arrival COVID-19 (PCR) test must be made before arriving in Brunei Darussalam. To use the BruHealth App while in Brunei, you must first download it.
Before boarding your aircraft to Brunei, you must have the following items:
A valid Entry Travel Pass, a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test slip obtained within 48 hours of departure, a valid air ticket, valid proof of payment for the post-arrival COVID-19 (PCR) test, a valid hotel reservation at a Brunei Government approved hotel, proof of installation of the BruHealth App on your mobile phone, and a valid visa (for visa-required passport holders).
Upon arrival, you must self-isolate in a government-approved hotel for a duration of two to 14 days. The quarantine time will be specified on the self-isolation notification you will get from Brunei’s Ministry of Health upon arrival. Fully vaccinated travellers may be eligible for a shorter self-isolation time ranging from 1 to 7 days, depending on the place of departure and other eligibility requirements stated in the Prime Minister’s Office Guidelines and Entry Procedures.
You will be responsible for all fees associated with the quarantine period and the COVID-19 testing. If you do not follow quarantine guidelines, you may be imprisoned for up to six months, fined up to BND10,000, or both.
Departure from Brunei Darussalam
If you are a long-term resident of Brunei, you must obtain permission from the Brunei Prime Minister’s Office to travel outside of the country. To leave the nation after August 1st, you must also be properly vaccinated against COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines may be scheduled via the BruHealth mobile app from the Brunei Ministry of Health.
Choosing to stay in Brunei Darussalam
If you are staying in Brunei, follow the local authorities’ instructions to reduce your risk of COVID-19 exposure. COVID-19 has been identified in the community in Brunei. Failure to wear a facemask in public might result in a BND100 fine. You must use the BruHealth App to check in and out of public buildings by scanning a QR code.
