Colman Domingo makes shocking statement about Diarra Kilpatrick’s show ‘Diarra from Detroit’

Diarra Kilpatrick is over the moon after Colman Domingo sang praises of her show Diarra from Detroit.

For those unaware, the 42-year-old American actress and writer illuminated Jimmy Kimmel Live for the first time with her appearance to promote the sophomore season of her mystery dark comedy drama television series. Domingo, who was performing hosting duties in that episode, raved about her series.

He said, “I love your show so much. I’ve been loving watching season 2 already. When I tell you it’s my favorite show … you know it’s my favorite show after I accosted you on the red carpet of the BET Awards.”

In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, Kilpatrick recalled that moment and articulated her thoughts, saying, “I’m just filled with gratitude because I love the show. I think it’s an important, fun show, but for someone else to agree of his stature, it matters.”

“So I’m really appreciative that this sweet, beautiful, elegant man, took some of his time and some of his shine to put it on a Black female-driven mystery-comedy,’ she admitted.

The Disaster Date actress went on to reveal that she was invited to the show owing to Domingo’s choice. “To be clear, he was like, ‘I want her on the show.’”

It is pertinent to mention that Diarra from Detroit, which stars Claudia Logan, Morris Chestnut, Dominique Perry, and Jon Chaffin, in addition to Diarra Kilpatrick, released the second season on July 29, 2026, on Paramount+.
