California delays COVID-19 vaccine mandate for schoolchildren

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California is delaying a coronavirus vaccine mandate for schoolchildren till no less than the summer time of 2023.

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration introduced the change on Thursday.

California was the primary state to announce it might require all schoolchildren to obtain the coronavirus vaccine. However the mandate won’t take impact till federal regulators give ultimate approval to the vaccine for kids. That hasn’t occurred but.

California Well being and Human Companies Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly stated faculty districts would wish extra time to implement the mandate as soon as federal approval occurs. State officers say the mandate won’t occur earlier than July 1, 2023.
