‘Best buddy’ of director Woody Allen, Tony Roberts, dies



At the age of 85, Tony Roberts, star of Annie Hall, passed away.

Roberts gained notoriety as the lead in several of director Woody Allen’s productions. The deceased actor appeared in six of Allen’s motion pictures.

In an interview with The New York Times, Nicole Barley, the Broadway actor’s daughter, confirmed the heartbreaking news.

Nicole disclosed that her father passed away at the age of 85 due to complications from his lung cancer.

Tony died at home in Manhattan on Friday.

He has played a significant role in the entertainment sector. Play It Again, Sam (1972), Annie Hall (1977), Stardust Memories (1980), and Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) are a few of his best-known pieces.

In the meanwhile, Tony starred in the successful 1973 movie Serpico. He then starred in the movie Just Tell Me What You Want.

However, his well-known Broadway productions include Barefoot in the Park, Xanadu, and Cabaret.

Due to his outstanding performance in Play it Again, Sam and How Now, Dow Jones, the actor has received two Tony Award nominations for his Broadway performances.
