AOC faces unspecified Home ethics probe

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is underneath investigation by the Home of Representatives ethics committee for an unspecified alleged violation of congressional guidelines, the panel introduced Wednesday.

The firebrand progressive lawmaker, who will face the probe in 2023 underneath the brand new Republican-led Congress, denied any wrongdoing.

“The Congresswoman has all the time taken ethics extremely severely, refusing any donations from lobbyists, companies, or different particular pursuits,” a spokeswoman for Ocasio-Cortez stated. “We’re assured that this matter will probably be dismissed.”

Rep. Susan Wild (D-Pennsylvania), the committee’s performing chair and Rep. Michael Visitor (R-Mississippi), the rating minority member, provided no clues as to what the ethics probe might be about or what proof might have surfaced towards Ocasio-Cortez.

Ocasio-Cortez, who represents deep-blue swaths of Queens and the Bronx, didn’t reveal the topic of the probe both.

The Workplace of Congressional Ethics, a nonpartisan group, referred its inquiry into Ocasio-Cortez to the Home ethics panel final June.

Ethics violations not often draw greater than a slap on the wrist for these lawmakers who face accusations, though they generally result in severe political penalties. In very uncommon instances, they will result in felony investigations.
