Aimee Lou Wood hits out at ‘mean and unfunny’ SNL joke

A joke that makes fun of her teeth has been described as “mean and unfunny” by Aimee Lou Wood, star of White Lotus.

The British actress, 31, shared a tale on Instagram about the prank on Saturday Night Live (SNL), a US television program, when comedian Sarah Sherman made an impression of her using oversized prosthetic teeth.

Donald Trump and his family were recast as the Ratliff family from The White Lotus in the farce, The White Potus, which addressed the criticism of the US president’s newly imposed tariffs.

Mike White’s popular hotel drama recently wrapped off its third season on Sky Atlantic.

Wood, who portrays Chelsea in the performance, was seen in character discussing a monkey, while the other actors in the skit were shown as actual political people.

She said that a portion of the parody that made fun of fluoride in light of recent US arguments over whether or not it should be eliminated from tap water was meaningless because she has “big gap teeth not bad teeth.”

Wood said: “Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about – but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”

Sherman’s pathetic effort at a Mancunian accent was also criticized by the Stockport-born celebrity.

Wood said, however, that she was “hating” “on the concept” rather than “on Sherman personally.”

“This sums up my view,” Wood said, pointing out an internet remark that read, “It was a sharp and funny skit until it suddenly took a screeching turn into 1970s misogyny.”

Wood expressed that she was “glad I said something” after receiving “thousands of messages in agreement” after voicing her ideas.
